Who is Gopinath Muthukad?
Gopinath Muthukad is a well-known Indian magician, motivational speaker, and author from Kerala. He founded the World’s First Magic Academy, The Academy of Magical Sciences, and the First Magic Museum, Magic Planet at Thiruvananthapuram. He conveys valuable messages to the public through magic.

Gopinath Muthukad was born on 10th April 1964 in Kavalamukkatta At Nilambur, Malappuram, Kerala, India. His parents are Kunhunni Nair and Devaki Amma.
Gopinath finished his graduation in Mathematics from N.S.S College, Manjeri. After that, he joined Law College, Bangalore but he dropped out and started to study magic in Thiruvananthapuram. His wife is Kavitha Muthukad and Vismay Muthukad is his son. He settled in Thiruvananthapuram along with his family.

Gopinath Muthukad Career Journey
Gopinath was very interested in magic since childhood. Vazhakunnam, one of the great magicians in Kerala inspired him. Later he did small magic in the classroom and his teachers encouraged him to pursue his dream.
After his graduate studies, he reached Trivandrum to pursue his passion as his career. Now he has presented programs in more than eight thousand stages in India and abroad. He has given a new mission and vision to the art of magic.
Gopinath Muthukad Books
Gopinath wrote many books for children and adults. The majority of the books explain the mathematical tricks and secrets behind the tricks.
“Ormakalude Manthrikasparsam” is the autobiography of Gopinath Muthukad. It has an ample collection of photographs from his magical life and was published in April 2017 by Olive/ Papiyon/ Harmony publishers. It contains 218 pages and the price of the book is 200, is written in the Malayalam language.
“Ganitharamante Kusruthikal” is another work written by Muthukad. He explains some mathematical tricks for children through magic. The preface of the book is given by Chemmanam Chacko. It was published in January 2011 by Mythri/ Evergreen Books. It contains 66 pages and the price of the book is 50.
The book “Magic Magic” explains the magic and the secrets behind some of the tricks. Muthukad reveals the secrets of 35 magic tricks in this book. It was published in December 2009 and published by Olive/ Papiyon/ Harmony publishers. It consists of 95 pages and the rate of the book is 75.
“Magic: History, Basics”, is another book by Gopinath Muthukad. It depicts the basics of the art of magic. “Vazhakunnam Stories” is another work; it explains the stories of the great legendary magician named Vazhakunnam who is the master of Muthukad.
“Math Magic” is another book related to mathematical magic. “Easy-to-do Magic tricks” is one of the famous works written for children. It depicts the easy magic tricks for children.
“Ee Kadhayilundoru Magic” and “Magic Lamp” are renowned works written by Gopinath Muthukad. His travel books are “India- Ente Pranaya Vismayam” and “India- My Spellbound Love.”
Gopinath’s Awards and Achievements
Gopinath won many awards and recognitions throughout his career journey. He won ‘Kerala State Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award’ in 1995 and ‘Prathibha Pranamam Honour’ by Kerala State Government.
In 2011, Gopinath won the “Merlin Award” from the International Magicians Society. In 2016, he procured the ‘Celebrity Advocate’ title from UNICEF for promoting child rights. He won the title ‘Kerala Icon’ in 2016 from the Election Commission of India.
In 2016 he is the Ambassador of ‘Rashtriya Aavishkar Abhiyaan’. He acquired ‘Kerala State Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award’ in 2018. He became the leader of the 21st Century finalist by San Francisco University in 2019. In 2020 he was the Brand Ambassador of the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Muthukad’s Television Shows
Gopinath Muthukad participated in television shows as a guest, host, quiz master, magician, and judge. Gopinath participated in a program titled “Vismayam”, telecasted by Kairali TV in 2009 and the judge in “Munch Star Singer Junior” and “Munch Star Singer Junior Season 2” (2009- 2012) premiered in Asianet.
Muthukad himself conducted many programs named “Evening Live Show” and “America Today”, and was the host in “Vismayakkoodu”(2012) and “Magic Carpet” (2012-2013), which are telecasted on Asianet News and Kairali TV respectively.
Gopinath Muthukad was the quiz master in “Little Scholar (2014), “Little Scholar Season 2 (2015), “Little Scholar Season 3 (2015), “Little Scholar Season 4 (2015-2016), and “Little Scholar Season 5” (2016). Muthukad participated in many programs like “Magic Planet (2016), “IQ Master”(2016-2017), “Charithram Enniloode”(2018), “American Lifestyle”(2018), “You”(2018), “Samoohyapadam”(2019), “Morning Show”(2019), and “Sakalakalavallabhan”(2019).
