Education and Qualification
He completed his schooling at a local church school. Later he gained graduation in Physics from Christ College, Irinjalakkuda, Thrissur. After that, he completed post-graduation in Physics from St. Thomas College, Thrissur (1970).
Career Path
In 1973 Kochouseph Chittilappilly started his career as a supervisor at ‘Telicas’ situated in Trivandrum, an electronics manufacturing company where voltage stabilizers and emergency lamps are manufactured. He worked for three years in this company.
After that found an electronics manufacturing unit named ‘V-Guard Industries’ in 1977. This company was started in Thrissur and had only two employees. Now, this is the largest selling stabilizer brand in India.
This company has 500 distributors, 20,000 retailers and 3000 dealers across India and manufactured various electronics like electric and solar water heaters, wiring cables, pumps and motors, ceiling fans and UPS.
In 2000 he started the first water theme park in Kerala named ‘VeegaLand’ and also another park named ‘Wonderla’ was started in Bangalore. VeegaLand is renamed ‘Wonderla’ in Kochi.
Books
He wrote the book “Practical Wisdom” and this book was published in 2005. This book explains the practical management technique.
Another works are “Practical Wisdom 1: In Real Life and Management” (2010), “Practical Wisdom 2: In Real Life and Management” (2012).
His autobiography is titled as “Ormakkilivaathil” (Down Memory Lane) and this was published in 2011 and the preface of this work was written by T Padmanabhan.
Awards and Honours
He won the ‘Rashtriya Samman’ from the Government of India, and he was selected as the Malayala Manorama Newsmaker of the Year (2011).
He achieved the ‘Millennium Businessman of Kerala Award’ from Business Deepika, he was selected as the ‘Tourism Man of the Year 2000’ and also the ‘Manager of the year 2000’ from the Travancore Management Association.
Also he was selected as the ‘Tourism Man of 2000’ from the Association of Tourism Trade Organizations, India.
