WagonR Hybrid in the Works – Suzuki’s Next Big Move!

Suzuki is set to revolutionize its popular WagonR model by introducing a full hybrid variant in Japan, scheduled for a 2025 launch. This strategic move aligns with the global automotive industry’s shift towards sustainable mobility solutions, aiming to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

The upcoming WagonR hybrid will be powered by a 0.66-liter, three-cylinder DOHC engine, delivering 54 PS, complemented by an electric motor producing an additional 10 PS. This hybrid system is paired with an electric continuously variable transmission (eCVT), designed to provide seamless acceleration and improved fuel economy.

Dimensionally, the hybrid WagonR will measure 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,460 mm and a kerb weight of 850 kg. These compact dimensions, combined with the hybrid powertrain, are expected to offer impressive fuel efficiency, with estimates suggesting figures surpassing 30 km/l.

The exterior design of the new WagonR maintains its iconic tallboy stance, featuring sharper edges and a boxier silhouette for a modern aesthetic. Inside, the cabin is anticipated to offer enhanced comfort and advanced features, catering to the evolving preferences of urban drivers.

While the hybrid WagonR is initially targeted at the Japanese market, its potential introduction in other regions, including India, remains a topic of interest. Given the WagonR’s popularity in various markets, a global rollout could significantly contribute to Suzuki’s commitment to sustainable transportation.
