Education and Qualification
He completed schooling at St Joseph’s Boys Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, Kerala, India. He completed his MBBS from a private medical college, in Karnataka.
Early Life and Career
He started his career as a doctor and later entered into politics. On 26th May 2001, he was selected as the Minister for Public Works Department and this rule ended on 12th May 2006.
He was succeeded by P J Joseph during the rule of Chief Minister A K Antony.
From 2011-2016 he was elected as the Minister for Social Welfare and Panchayath Affairs. He was preceded by Paloli Muhammed Kutty and succeeded by K T Jaleel. At that time the Chief
Minister was Oommen Chandy.
On 25th March 2017, he was elected as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. This post ended on 25th May 2021. He was preceded by P K Kunhalikutty during the
rule of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Currently, he is a member of the Legislative Assembly and was elected on 25th May 2021. He was preceded by Karat Razak under the Koduvally Constituency.
