Dinesh started his career as a cricketer and made his International debut on 3rd November 2004 against Australia.
On 5th September 2005 he made his One Day International debut against England held at London.
He made his Twenty20 debut on 1st December 2006 against South Africa held at Johannesburg. His jersey number is 21 and 19. He trained under the mentor Robin Singh.
In 2006 he won the T20 International Man of the Match award and he won the title that ‘the first ever Indian cricketer to win the award.
