Apple has expanded its streaming service accessibility by launching the Apple TV app for Android smartphones and tablets. As of February 12, 2025, Android users can download the app directly from the Google Play Store.
This development allows Android users to access Apple TV+, featuring acclaimed series like “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” and “The Morning Show,” as well as award-winning films such as “CODA.” Additionally, subscribers can enjoy live sports content, including Major League Soccer matches through the MLS Season Pass, all without blackout restrictions.
The app offers an intuitive interface with features like “Up Next,” a personalized watchlist that helps users quickly find and resume their favorite content across devices. It also supports offline viewing, allowing users to download shows and movies for later enjoyment.
To get started, Android users can download the Apple TV app from the Google Play Store. New subscribers are offered a seven-day free trial, after which Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. The MLS Season Pass requires an additional subscription, priced at $12.99 per month or $79 for the full season with an Apple TV+ subscription.
This move signifies Apple’s commitment to broadening its streaming service’s reach, making its diverse content library accessible to a wider audience beyond its own devices. By extending the Apple TV app to Android platforms, Apple aims to attract more subscribers and enhance its presence in the competitive streaming market.
